Blade & Soul, the wildly popular Asian MMO based on classic Chinese fantasy elements, will be launching in North America this winter, according to an announcement from NCSoft West. With an online audience in the tens of millions, Blade & Soul has been one of the most widely-played titles across South Korea, China, Taiwan and Japan, and ranks among the most popular MMORPG’s in the world. And, soon, North American gamers will finally get a chance to experience the game that has captivated a continent.

"Blade & Soul is one of the most anticipated online games by Western consumers," John Burns, senior vice president of publishing at NCSOFT West, said in a press release. "This is a tremendous opportunity to bring one of the most successful and fun online games in Asia to our Western audience this winter and we can’t wait to deliver this extraordinary and distinct gaming experience to millions of new players across North America and Europe." By the way, if you want to play well, you need blade & soul gold without a doubt.

The Blade & Soul North America release will give gamers the chance to explore a world built in the Wuxia style. Wuxia, which literally means "martial hero", is a broad genre of Chinese fiction concerning the adventures of martial artists in ancient China. If you’ve ever seen Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon then you already know more about Wuxia than you think.

At a recent demo event in NYC, I saw Blade & Soul in person for the first time and was immediately captivated by the thematic elements. There is a tremendous amount of verticality in the landscape and players get to swoop and glide through the air to get from point A to point B. The story seemed compelling and the combat simple. Although I knew virtually nothing about it before my demo I left feeling genuinely intrigued by the title.

Beyond the Wuxia elements, which are a nice departure from the high fantasy settings of most MMOs, I also learned that players can constantly update their starter weapon. So, instead of going through hundreds of different items in the course of gameplay, players can turn their very first sword into an object of legend. Pretty cool.

There is no set date for the Blade & Soul North America release as of yet, but interested fans are encouraged to sign up for the newsletter. Doing so makes you eligible to be selected for a closed beta happening this fall. Fans can also follow all the updates on the Blade & Soul Facebook and Twitter accounts, and, of course, right here at iDigitalTimes.
