One point was enough for the Cincinnati Bengals to create some separation in the AFC North. Phil Dawson Jersey .The Bengals increased their lead in the all-winning division to 1 1-2 games on Sunday by squeezing past Tampa Bay 14-13. Their brethren in the sector all fell: Baltimore blowing a lead late and falling to San Diego 34-33; Pittsburgh bowing to New Orleans 35-31; and Cleveland losing at Buffalo 26-10.Im pleased that we basically overcame ourselves and won the football game, Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said.We had, obviously, the turnovers offensively that led to scores, we had penalties on defence that kept drives alive, and those are things we overcame, Lewis added. Theyre going to show up once in a while, but we seemed to have them all today. ... We kind of got in our own way all day.But it turned out far better for the Bengals than for the rest of the division. The holiday weekend began on Thanksgiving, when Detroit improved to 8-4 with a 34-17 victory over Chicago (5-7). Seattle (8-4) defeated NFC West rival San Francisco (7-5), 19-3. Philadelphia (9-3) grabbed first place in the NFC East ahead of Dallas (8-4) with a 33-10 romp over the Cowboys. On Monday night, Miami (6-5) visits the New York Jets (2-9).Bengals 14, Buccaneers 13At Tampa, Andy Dalton ran for one touchdown and threw to A.J. Green for another, helping the Bengals overcome those mistakes.Dalton shrugged off three first-half interceptions, and the Bengals (8-3-1) weathered 10 penalties and an ill-advised onside kick to win on the road for the third consecutive week, a franchise first.Tampa Bay (2-10) threatened in the closing minutes. However, a 21-yard completion that would have put the Bucs in field goal range was overturned after a replay review confirmed the Bucs had 12 men on the field on the play. The ball was moved back to the 46, an additional 14 seconds were added to the clock, and Tampa Bay turned over the ball on downs.Blame the head coach. Bad move on my part, (I) didnt see it, coach Lovie Smith said. We had 12 guys on the field. Cant happen.Chargers 34, Ravens 33At Baltimore, Philip Rivers capped a frantic drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Eddie Royal with 38 seconds to go. The Chargers (8-4) trailed 30-20 with 6:13 remaining and 33-27 with 2:22 left before Rivers brought them back.Following a pass interference call against Anthony Levine in the end zone, Rivers hit Royal to conclude an 80-yard march to the Chargers third straight win. These are the kind of games you got to win to get in (the post-season) and these are the kind of games you got to win if you do get in, Rivers said. Im not saying youre going to win all of them, but if you cant win these, youre not good enough.Rivers went for 34 for 45 for 383 yards and three touchdowns, two to Keenan Allen.Baltimore (7-5) lost at home in November for the first time since 2009. The Ravens were 11-0 at home against West Coast teams.Saints 35, Steelers 32At Pittsburgh, Drew Brees threw five touchdowns for the ninth time in his career.Kenny Stills caught five passes for a career-high 162 yards and a score as the Saints (5-7) ended a three-game losing streak. The Steelers (7-5) kept New Orleans tight end Jimmy Graham without a catch, but it hardly mattered. Brees worked over Pittsburghs secondary anyway. Ben Watson, Marques Colston, Erik Lorig and Nick Toon hauled in touchdowns.Ben Roethlisberger passed for 435 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions for the Steelers.Bills 26, Browns 10QB Kyle Orton and defensive end Jerry Hughes scored touchdowns 10 seconds apart in the third quarter for the host Bills (7-5).Orton put the Bills ahead 7-3 with a 3-yard pass to Chris Hogan. Buffalos defence scored on the next play from scrimmage when Hughes stripped the ball from running back Terrence West, and returned the fumble 18 yards. It was too deep of a hole for Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel to dig out of. Taking over with 12:01 left after starter Brian Hoyer threw his second interception, Manziel capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive with a 10-yard run that cut Buffalos lead to 20-10.Cleveland (7-5) lost for only the second time in six games.Packers 26, Patriots 21In what some predict was a Super Bowl preview, the host Packers moved to 9-3. Aaron Rodgers threw for two touchdowns, Eddie Lacy powered for key yards in the fourth quarter, and the Green Bay defence stood firm late in the game.Rodgers bested Tom Brady in the first meeting between the star quarterbacks as starters. Rodgers connected with Richard Rodgers and Jordy Nelson for long touchdowns and hasnt thrown an interception in an NFL-record 360 passes at home, which includes 31 touchdown tosses. We have some big goals, and were getting into December football now with a chance with everything right in front of us, Rodgers said.Brady finished with two touchdown passes to Brandon LaFell for New England (9-3), which had its seven-game winning streak snapped.Broncos 29, Chiefs 16At Kansas City, C.J. Anderson rushed for 168 yards and caught a 15-yard touchdown pass, and Demaryius Thomas also had a TD reception from Peyton Manning to help the Broncos (9-3) beat Kansas City for the sixth straight time.New kicker Connor Barth was perfect on five field-goal attempts, and the Broncos stayed one game in front of San Diego in the AFC West.Alex Smith threw for 153 yards and two touchdowns for the Chiefs (7-5), the second to Jamaal Charles to make it 26-16 early in the fourth quarter. But Smiths pass on the 2-point try fell incomplete, and the Broncos added another field goal to put the game away.Colts 49, Redskins 27At Indianapolis, Andrew Luck threw a career-high five touchdown passes and topped the 300-yard mark for a franchise-record 10th time this season.Luck was 19 of 27 for 370 yards and had TD passes of 30, 3, 48, 73 and 79 yards. He broke Peyton Mannings mark for most 300-yard games in one season and joined Manning and Dan Marino as the only quarterbacks to top 4,000 yards in two of their first three seasons. He did all that while Washingtons Robert Griffin III, the No. 2 overall pick behind Luck in 2012, watched from the sideline. Griffins replacement, Colt McCoy, was 31 of 47 for a career-best 392 yards and three TDs, also a career high.Indy is 8-4. Washington (3-9) has lost four straight.Falcons 29, Cardinals 18At Atlanta, Julio Jones had a career day with 10 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown to keep the Falcons in first place in the NFC South via a tiebreaker over New Orleans.Arizona (9-3) still leads the NFC West after its second straight loss, one game in front of defending Super Bowl champion Seattle.Jones hauled in a 32-yard scoring pass, and Matt Bryant kicked a career-best five field goals for the Falcons (5-7).The Cardinals went more than 11 quarters without an offensive touchdown until a meaningless score with just over a minute remaining.Texans 45, Titans 21At Houston, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for a franchise-record six touchdowns, and DeAndre Hopkins had a career-best 238 yards receiving and two scores. Fitzpatrick returned to the lineup after being benched for two games for Ryan Mallett, who sustained a season-ending chest injury last week.I didnt know if Id ever have a chance to play again, Fitzpatrick said. It was eye-opening for me not to take it for granted and to embrace it.J.J. Watt helped out with his third touchdown reception, two sacks, and he forced and recovered a fumble for Houston (6-6).Tennessees Zach Mettenberger injured his right shoulder playing behind a makeshift offensive line that was missing three starters. Jake Locker took over in the third quarter and threw for 91 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for the Titans (2-10), who have lost six straight.Rams 52, Raiders 0At St. Louis, Tre Mason scored two long touchdowns, and Shaun Hill accounted for three TDs in the rout. St. Louis had an out-of-nowhere 38-point first half that tied for the second biggest in franchise history.Mason had 113 yards rushing on six carries in the half with an 89-yard score, plus a 35-yard jaunt on a screen pass. Hill was 12 for 15 for 178 yards and two TDs and ran for a 2-yard score. The Rams (5-7) scored touchdowns on their first five possessions, and through the second quarter had 38 points to top their previous best scoring total for any game this season. The 38-point halftime lead was the largest in franchise history. The Raiders (1-11) committed five turnovers.Vikings 31, Panthers 13At Minneapolis, Adam Thielen and Everson Griffen each returned blocked punts for touchdowns, the fifth time in NFL history one team had two in the same game.Teddy Bridgewater threw for two scores without a turnover, and Griffen had two of the four sacks by the Vikings (5-7) against Cam Newton. The Panthers (3-8-1) again stumbled out of their bye. They are 0-4 under coach Ron Rivera following the annual in-season week off, and have lost six in a row overall this season. It was the seventh-coldest game in Vikings history, with a kickoff temperature of 12 degrees. They are playing outside this year for the first time since 1981.Jaguars 25, Giants 24At Jacksonville, Josh Scobee kicked a 43-yard field goal with 28 seconds remaining, and the Jaguars rallied from a 21-point deficit, their biggest comeback victory ever.Jacksonville (2-10) ended a four-game losing streak and dealt New York (3-9) a seventh consecutive loss that could raise more questions about coach Tom Coughlins future. The Giants scored 21 points in the second quarter and looked like they would earn their first victory since early October. But after the break, Geno Hayes forced Eli Manning to fumble, and teammate J.T. Thomas recovered the ball in the end zone. Rookie Aaron Colvin returned a fumble 41 yards for a touchdown in the fourth period. It was the first time in franchise history Jacksonville scored two defensive touchdowns in a game.___AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP_NFL Kareem Martin Jersey . I was like How the hell we got a leak if it aint raining.Mason Plumlee had 21 points and nine rebounds for Brooklyn, and Deron Williams added 15 points and 11 assists. The Heat led by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter, but the Nets closed to 93-91 on Bojan Bogdanovics 3-pointer with 35 seconds left. After a Miami timeout, Wade missed a long 3, but Bogdanovic was called for a loose ball foul on Deng. When I turned around there was only six on the shot clock, so I knew I had to get it up, Wade said. I just wanted to hit the rim and give ourselves a chance, and we got something positive out of it.Deng made both foul shots to lift Miami to a 95-91 lead. The biggest thing is to make the first one, he said. Mesoraco hurt his hamstring while scoring from second in Friday nights 5-4 loss at Atlanta. Chapman was hit by a line drive during an exhibition game on March 19, breaking his nose and a bone above his left eye. The left-hander looked strong while throwing 43 pitches in batting practice before Saturday nights game against the Braves.San Francisco acquired veteran right-hander Jake Peavy on Saturday with one purpose in mind. Beat the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hell get a chance to continue a careers worth of dominance against them on Sunday in his San Francisco debut, as Giants try to avoid a three-game sweep at AT&T Park. Watch the Giants vs. Dodgers live tonight on TSN at 8pm et/5pm pt. A former National League Cy Young Award winner with the San Diego Padres, Peavy was 1-9 with a 4.72 ERA in 20 outings for the Boston Red Sox this season. However, his run support average of 2.76 was the second-lowest among all AL starting pitchers. "This is what I showed up to do at the beginning of the year: to try and win a World Series, and this team certainly knows how to get that done," Peavy said. "It starts with getting in and trying to win your division. To be thrown right into the middle of that, as I was last year, its exciting for me." Of course, Peavy will also be reunited with his former manager, Bruce Bochy, who was his skipper with the Padres. "Ive always admired how he plays the game. Hes all-out, full-bore in everything he does. Hes a guy you want on your club," Bochy said of Peavy, whose nickname is, appropriately, Bulldog. "Hes as tough of a competitor as any player Ive ever had; these guys are going to love him and his approach to the game. "Im excited about having Jake here and I know hes excited about coming back to the National League and this division." Perhaps the most important reason Peavy was obtained is the fact that he is an incredible 14-2 lifetime versus the DDodgers with a 2. Johan Larsson Jersey. 21 ERA in 25 starts. Hes limited the Dodgers current roster to a combined .177 average with four home runs and 12 RBIs in 113 at-bats. On Aug. 25 last season, Peavy pitched a complete-game three-hitter at Dodger Stadium, allowing just one run. Peavy jumps right into the fire on Sunday, as the Giants fell a half-game back of the Dodgers in the NL West on Saturday thanks to another brilliant effort from Clayton Kershaw. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner tossed a two-hit shutout to win his ninth straight decision in the Dodgers 5-0 triumph. "Most clubs are trying to do now is get him early, and when you do that and you dont get him, you get a low pitch count," LA manager Don Mattingly said. After totaling eight runs on 15 hits on Friday, the Dodgers finished with 11 base knocks on Saturday. Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-5 with an RBI, Juan Uribe had a pair of hits and two runs batted in and Carl Crawford scored twice. The Giants have now dropped their last three. "When youre going against one of the best you have to find a way to scratch and claw for runs," Bochy said. While Peavy will be debuting for the Giants, the Dodgers will also be throwing an impressive hurler in Hyun-Jin Ryu, who is 11-5 with a 3.39 ERA. Ryu won his second straight start on Monday in Pittsburgh, as he held the Pirates to a pair of runs and five hits in seven innings. Ryu is 3-3 in seven starts versus the Giants with a 3.24 ERA. Despite the two losses to start this series, San Francisco is still 7-5 versus the Dodgers this season. CLEVELAND -- Corey Kluber allowed four runs in six innings, and Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer in the fifth, leading the Cleveland Indians to a 7-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night. Dawuane Smoot Jersey . Kluber (9-6), left off the AL All-Star team despite a strong first half, wasnt his usual dominant self but pitched well enough to win. The right-hander has won three of his last four decisions. Cody Allen struck out the side in the ninth for his 11th save. Swishers homer off Hector Noesi (3-7) to centre field broke a 4-4 tie. David Murphy also homered for Cleveland, his first since May 21. Before Swishers home run, the biggest cheer from the crowd of 24,652 came when the Indians put a message on the scoreboard welcoming home NBA superstar LeBron James, who announced he was returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Chants of "LBJ" were heard later in the game. Adam Dunn hit a leadoff homer in the fifth for Chicago, which has lost three straight. The Indians were helped by an overturned call on a replay in the fifth. Asdrubal Cabrera was originally called out trying to steal second, but manager Terry Francona challenged the call, and Cabrera was ruled safe after a review. Lonnie Chisenhalls single tied it before Swisher homered to centre. Francona and a trainer visited Kluber in the fourth after he backed up the plate, but he remained in the game. Kluber struck out five, walked two and gave up eight hits. Kluber was among the players in an online vote for the final spot on the All-Star team. The Indians massive marketing campaign for Kluber fell short, but he enters the break with a 3.01 ERA and is fourth in the AL with 142 strikeouts. Adrian Nietos RBI double and Leury Garcias run-scoring grounder in the second put Chicago in front. Murphys two-run homer tied it in the bottom of the inning. Adam Eatons RBI double in the fourth made it 3-2, but the Indians quickly tied it when Chris Dickerson drew a bases-loaded walk. Kluber retired the first batter in the second, but the next three reached base. Conor Gillaspie doubled, took third on a single and scored on Nietos double to left. Garcias grounder made it 2-0. Swisher singled with one out in the second, and Murphy homered to right, Eatons double to left-centre scored Garcia from first base in the fourth. Dunn homered to dead centre field, the 454th shot of his career. Noesi allowed six runs in 4 2-3 innings. White Sox All-Star Jose Abreu, who leads the majors with 28 homers, was 1 for 4 with a third-inning single. Carlos Santana had an RBI double in the seventh for Cleveland. NOTES: White Sox 2B Gordon Beckham, 1 for 30 in his last seven games, was given the night off. Beckham has been the subject of trade talks. The weather is getting cold and teams are starting to think playoffs. Matt Stajan Jersey . Were heading into the final stretch, when the most outstanding of the outstanding truly prove themselves in going above already lofty expectations to secure that playoff spot; that home field advantage; that division title. While the race for Most Outstanding Player will be won and lost over the next six weeks, we take a look at the candidates who have done enough to put themselves in the late season conversation with the TSN.ca MOP Watch. Through the first 13 weeks of the 2013 season, who is the frontrunner for the leagues top individual award? The Saskatchewan Roughriders had two top candidates in RB Kory Sheets and QB Darian Durant through the first half of the season, but both have since fallen back to the pack, coinciding with the Riders recent fall in the standings. Durants dimmed star has been due to some uneven play the past three weeks while Sheets has been injury related. Toronto Argonauts QB Ricky Ray is another candidate to lose ground to injury. Prior to his shoulder woes the veteran had a dazzling stat line of 15 touchdowns to zero interceptions and a nearly 80 percent completion rate. If Ray and backup Zach Collaros could share the award, it would all but be wrapped up. The young Collaros is making a case for himself as it is, most recently leading the Argos to a three-game road winning streak in Rays stead. All these injuries opened the door to players like Henry Burris, who leads the league in passing in Hamilton, and Jon Cornish, the league leader in average yards per carry with the Stampeders. Meanwhile Edmontons first-year starter Mike Reilly has put up the individual numbers to warrant MOP consideration but his teams win/loss record hampers his case. The Rouge asks: Through the first 13 weeks of the season, who is your pick for Most Outstanding Player? Youve heard what weve had to say, now its your turn. As always, its Your! Call. Karri Ramo Jersey . Beckham finished 2 for 4, adding a double in the first inning. Chicago has won eight of 12 to get back to .500 (27-27). The White Sox are 6-3 against Cleveland this season after losing 17 of 19 to their American League Central rival in 2013. Mike Aviles went 1 for 2 with a walk and drove in Clevelands run. Brett Kulak Jersey . In the days leading up to the draft, TSN.ca and TSN Radio basketball analyst Duane Watson looks at some of the names that will be headlining the event. Tavares also assisted on a goal by Josh Bailey and Jaroslav Halak made 21 saves in his sixth straight start for the Islanders, who ended a two-game skid. Travis Zajac and Scott Gomez lit the lamp for the Devils, who earned a point after being held to just 14 shots in Thursdays 3-0 loss at Boston. Kinkaid turned aside 28 shots in defeat. Cody McCormick provided a short-handed goal and Michal Neuvirth kept the Sabres in the game by stopping 45 shots in the teams seventh straight loss. Final Score: Florida 6, Calgary 5 Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Tomas Fleischmann scored with 3:09 remaining in the third period to lift the Florida Panthers to a 6-5 win over the Calgary Flames on Friday night. Fleischmann backhanded in a rebound from the slot 45 seconds after the Flames had tied it on Matt Stajans second goal of the game. Brad Boyes, who had a goal and an assist for Florida, was called for slashing with 2:25 left. The Flames pulled Jonas Hiller during the subsequent power play for a 6-on-4 advantage and Brian Campbell, who gave the Panthers a 5-4 lead at 9:29 of the third, bailed out goaltender Al Montoya. The puck sat in the crease, but the veteran defenseman alertly pinned it against Montoya to trigger a whistle. Jonathan Huberdeau, Jimmy Hayes and Sean Bergenheim also scored as Florida improved to 3-1-0 on its six-game road trip. TJ Brodie also had two goals for Calgary, which concluded a six-game homestand with a third straight loss. Brandon Saad scored both goals for Chicago, which posted a 7-1 win over the Oilers in its last trip to Rexall Place on Nov. 22. Antti Raanta stopped 17 shots in the loss. Byrnes resignation will take effect immediately as he pursues new challenges at the NHL level, the Ontario Hockey League team said in a release. "Im happy for Chris," said team governor Jeff Hunt. "He served us well as an assistant coach, head coach and most recently as general manager and its great to know hes moving up to the NHL level. We wish him well." Byrne coached and managed in the 67s organization for eight seasons. He served as both head coach and GM over the last three seasons. "Im thankful to Jeff and the 67s organization for a great experience in Ottawa and for allowing me to pursue my dream of working in the NHL," said Byrne. "This opportunity came up very recently and it really is something I couldnt turn down. "I know the 67s have a great core of young, talented players and I wish them and the organization good luck in the future." Details on his NHL plans were not immediately released. Higgins, meanwhile, has spent over 20 seasons in the organization as a scout, assistant GM and head of scouting. Hell oversee all facets of hockey operations. "Im humbled and excited by the opportunity the 67s have given me," said Higgins. "We have a talented roster of new players joining a more experienced core group of veterans and I know great things are ahead for the fans. Thanks to Jeff, Chris and (former coach) Brian Kilrea for their roles in my development as a hockey operations leader." Tracy Porter Jersey . The New York Rangers centre had a goal and two assists in a 4-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators ending a 13-game goal-scoring drought. Josh Bellamy Jersey . On Monday night, many fans in this city placed the blame squarely on the captain for his role in the James Neal overtime winner against the Pittsburgh Penguins. http://www.probearsonline.com/authentic-walter-payton-bears-jersey/ . City, fielding a depleted team having already qualified, was twice pegged back by the plucky Czech champions but substitute Negredo tapped home in the 78th minute and Dzekos header made sure of victory in the 89th. The result kept City three points behind Bayern Munich ahead of their meeting in Germany in two weeks.Winnipeg Jets 5 New York Rangers 2 – With the win the Jets are now 3-1 on the six-game road trip, as they leave the New York area they are headed for the state of Florida for the final two games. Jets season record is now 13-12-4 and their road record is 6-6-1. For the second straight game the Jets fell behind early as Mats Zuccarello opened the scoring at 2:49 of the first, the only goal of the opening period with the Rangers outshooting the Jets 11-6. The Jets defence got more involved in the offensive side of the game in period two and the Jets had a number of chances to score, including goal posts from Dustin Byfuglien and Jacob Trouba. The Jets tied the game 8:16 in with Devin Setoguchi notching his third in four games off a nice feed from Olli Jokinen. Setoguchi now has seven on the year. Chris Thorburn was the left winger on that line in the absence of Evander Kane and picked up his first point of the season on the play. Kane is day to day with a lower body injury. Less than two minutes later the Jets took the lead. John Albert, up from St. Johns, and making his NHL debut was sent in by Byfuglien and scored his first NHL goal on his first NHL shot. It was a great defensive read by Byfulien at the Jets line that started the play. 24-year-old Albert was a Jets pick in 2007 and is a third year pro. His parents, John and Cindy, were in the building for his special night. Ryan Callahan tied the game before the second period was out, scoring off a goal mouth scramble. The second period was wide open with the teams trading chances and the shots, with the totals 15-13 in favour of New York. Both teams were cautious to start the third but after the Jets killed off a penalty, the game again opened up with both Ondrej Pavelec and Cam Talbot getting tested. At 12:42 Jokinen snapped the tie with his 5th goal of the seasonn beating Talbot from the slot after some good fore-checking by Thorburn and Setoguchi. Bobby Massie Jersey. It stayed that way until Jokinens second of the game and 6th of the season put the game away, as he again beat Talbot from the slot with a wrist shot. Michael Frolik and Jacob Trouba drew assists. Trouba earned another assist on an empty net goal by Blake Wheeler. For Wheeler the goal snapped a 14 game goalless stretch. Final shots favoured the Rangers 37-30. Individually, Pavelec has now only allowed nine goals against in his last five road games, Jokinen recorded his first three point game of the season, Thorburn notched is seventh career multi point game, Trouba his first to go along with a game-high eight blocked shots. Mark Scheifele had his four game point streak snapped but had another very good game in 16:57 of ice time, his most minutes played in the past 12 games. At 12:10, that was a season high for Thorburn, while Byfuglien again led the way at 28:38. Wheeler had seven shots on goal to lead the Jets in that category. Jokinen and Grant Clitsome were each plus three in the game. It was the second plus three game of the season for Clitsome. Albert played 8:29 on a line with James Wright and Anthony Peluso. "We managed the puck very well, were a confident group and had a lot of players engaged in the game," commented Coach Claude Noel. " We got production from a lot of people." As for Albert, "He had a few bumps but he was fine, strong positionally. His goal lifted our bench, a lot." As for Thorburn, "he was good, got involved physically. On the fore-check he wanted the puck dumped into his corner and he would go get it." Jets will have two more practice days in Florida before meeting the Panthers Thursday (TSN Jets, TSN 1290), then close out the trip in Tampa Saturday. WASHINGTON -- Trailing by two runs with two men on in the bottom of the ninth inning, Washingtons Jayson Werth worked a 3-0 count against Angels closer Ernesto Frieri. Michel Briere Jersey . Time to take a pitch, right? "I cant imagine anybody thinking that J-Dubs going to swing," Werths teammate Adam LaRoche said. "Surprised all of us." Werth did indeed go after the next pitch, hitting it down the third-base line for a game-tying, two-run double that ended Frieris rough outing. LaRoche then produced an RBI single off the first pitch from Fernando Salas to cap a four-run rally in the ninth, and the Nationals beat the Angels 5-4 Wednesday night to avoid a sweep. "You hit into a double play right there, its probably the worst play youve ever seen," Werth said. "If you get a hit, its the best." Los Angeles led 4-1 entering the ninth, and Frieri (0-2) was seeking his third save. Instead, he left with his second blown chance, charged with all four runs Washington scored in that inning. The Nationals trailed in seven of their 12 wins. "I knew that he was going to swing," Frieri said. "Hes a power guy. So I tried to keep the ball down. But I still missed it right down the middle. ... I mean, today was a mess, man." Still, manager Mike Scioscia indicated he will keep Frieri in the closers role. "He just got a save the other night," Scioscia said. "Its in him. We just need to get him a little more consistent." Part of Frieris problem was failing to put away Jose Lobaton leading off the ninth after getting ahead 0-2. Lobaton hit his first homer of the season. "The spark we needed," Werth said. One out later, Werth made it 4-all. On LaRoches liner to left, Werth beat the throw from Mike Trout, crossed the plate with a fist raised and was greeted by teammates streaming out of the dugout. They then headed over to swarm LaRoche. "He left a fastball up over the plate," LaRoche said. "In that situation, just trying to hit something hard." Drew Storen (2-0) got one out in the ninth for the victory, despite giving up an RBI single to Trout. That hit scored Raul Ibanez, who reached when first baseman LaRoche was charged with an error for dropping the ball while transferring it from his glove to his throwing hand after catching a line drive. "Its one of the worst rules Ive ever heard of. I dont feel like its baseball," LaRoche said. "It doesnt make sense. Its frustrating, especially in a close game where that could have ended up costing us. Hopefully well get that rule changed sooner than later." Trout robbed Bryce Harper of a hit with a headfirst diving catch in the first, then beat a throw home from his fellow 2012 Rookie of the Year to score in the sixth. A night after hitting his 499th and 500th homers, Albert Pujols went 2 for 4 with an RBI double, while Jered Weaver allowed one run in six innings. But the Angels dropped to 10-11, blowing an opportunity to climb above .500 for the first time since they were 1-0 last season. Washingtons Gio Gonzalez gave up two runs over five-plus innings, leaving after only 83 pitches because of what manager Matt Williams called "a little shoulder tightness." "Ordinarily I wouldnt take him out of the game there, but we want to make sure hes OK for our future, too," Williams said. Gonzalez, who also drove in Washingtons first run, said he expects to make his next start. So much attention at the start of this series was on Trout, 22, and Harper, 21, first-round draft picks who were Arizona Fall League teammates in 2011 but hadnt played each other in the majors until Monday. Yanked from a game last weekend for what Williams called "lack of hustle," Harper went from what appeared to be a jog to a sprint when his grounder in the eighth was fumbled by first baseman Pujols, who was charged with an error. "Hes safe at first base. Thats all I care about," Williams said. "Were not asking him to go 100 per cent all the time, as fast as he can possibly go at every single moment. Because not everybody does." NOTES: After a day off, the Angels put LHP C.J. Wilson (2-2, 4.21) on the mound Friday against Yankees RHP Hiroki Kuroda (2-1, 4.07) for the start of a three-game series at New York. ... The Nationals begin a four-game set Thursday against visiting San Diego, with RHP Jordan Zimmermann (1-1, 3.92) facing Padres LHP Eric Stults (1-2, 4.35). Ron Francis Jersey . Bryant, who signed a five-year, $34 million contract as a free agent with Cleveland in March, reported symptoms on Monday morning, a team spokesman said. Sidney Crosby Jersey . It was the most lopsided loss in Lakers history. Darren Collison had a team-high 24 points while starting at shooting guard for the injured Jamal Crawford. Chris Paul added 13 points and 11 assists for the Clippers, who apparently are trying to make up for decades of humiliation at the hands of the Lakers all in one season; theyve won the last two meetings by a combined 84 points. http://www.penguinsauthenticofficial.com/paul-martin-jersey/ .J. - Several people have collapsed in an overcrowded New Jersey train station while waiting in long lines to get to the Super Bowl.ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis manager Mike Matheny decided at the last minute against giving slumping infielder Kolten Wong the day off on Saturday. It proved to be a smart move. Wong homered and had three RBIs and Justin Masterson won his St. Louis debut as the Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-7 on Saturday night. St. Louis, which had lost three of its previous four, moved two games behind first-place Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Brewers had a two-game winning streak snapped. Wong, who entered the contest mired in a 6 for 36 skid, went 3 for 5. He slammed a bases-loaded single to trigger a five-run outburst in the second inning that put St. Louis ahead to stay 6-1. He also hit a solo homer in the first. "That worked out fine for all of us," Matheny said of the late pre-game move. "It was nice to see him bounce back. With a young player, when he has a couple of rough days, you wonder, can he leave it behind and go back to having a nice approach. He jumped right in and had some big at-bats." Wong was 2 for 3 in his career against Brewers starter Kyle Lohse, a key factor in Matheny leaving him in the lineup. Wong, who entered the game hitless in his previous eight at-bats, spent some extra time studying his approaches at the plate following Fridays 7-4 loss to Milwaukee. "I knew the reason I was striking out as soon as the game finished yesterday," Wong said. "I was swinging way too hard trying to do way too much." Masterson (1-0) gave up five runs on seven hits over six innings. He was acquired from Cleveland on Wednesday for minor league outfielder James Ramsey. "There was a little rust out there," Masterson said. "But with that intense offence that we had, and some solid defence, that makes it fun to be out there." Aramis Ramirez and Scooter Gennett drove in two runs each for the Brewers. Ramirez had three hits for the second successive game. Lohse (11-6) took tthe loss. Scott Wilson Jersey. Lohse, who pitched for the Cardinals from 2008-12, gave up nine runs on nine hits over four innings. He struck out two and walked three. Lohse gave up eight earned runs in a 15-5 loss at Pittsburgh on June 6. "It was just a rough one," Lohse said. "I just left too many balls out over the plate." St. Louis closer Trevor Rosenthal recorded his 33rd save in 37 opportunities. He allowed a leadoff double to Jean Segura. Rosenthal then appeared to hit Elian Herrera with a pitch, but the call was overturned by a challenge. Rosenthal then got Herrera to ground out. He struck out Carlos Gomez and Gerardo Parra to end the game. ANCHORS AWEIGH Former US Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell threw out the first pitch. Luttrell was awarded the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his actions in June 2005 as part of Operation Red Wings. He wrote the bestselling novel, The Lone Survivor, which has been turned into a movie starring Mark Wahlberg. TRAINERS ROOM Cardinals: OF Jon Jay missed his fourth successive game with a sore wrist suffered on a check swing July 29 at San Diego. He says the wrist is improving and he could return to the starting lineup as early as Tuesday against Boston. Brewers: RHP Jimmy Nelson, who was scratched from Saturdays start due to a blister on his finger, will start on Tuesday against San Francisco. ON DECK John Lackey (11-7, 3.60) will make his St. Louis debut on Sunday in the final game of the three-game series. He will be opposed by Matt Garza (7-7, 3.74). The Cardinals obtained Lackey on Thursday from Boston in exchange for OF Allen Craig and RHP Joe Kelly. LONG LASTING The Brewers have been in first place in the NL Central every day since April 5, a streak covering 121 successive days. They lost two of their first three games to open the season and spent two days in third place and one each in second and fourth before taking over the top spot. "Cant count on (them) to do all the damage," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. They definitely showed that theres more to this team than sluggers Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki. Charlie Blackmon hit two homers and Jorge De La Rosa threw five efficient innings, lifting the Colorado Rockies to an 8-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Monday night. Nolan Arenado, Wilin Rosario and Corey Dickerson also homered for the Rockies, whove won four of the last five. It was Blackmons first multihomer game of his career. "When were clicking as a team, and everybody is hitting the ball hard, up and down the order, its just that feeling of, Were going to get em," said Blackmon, who raised his average to .411. "Obviously, youd like to save some of your home runs for those really close games, but its also nice to take them when you can get them." De La Rosa (1-3) rediscovered his rhythm, allowing five hits and one run for his first victory of the season. The hard-throwing lefty tied a career high with 16 wins last season. He also was on the same page with Rosario all night, something that wasnt the case during the season opener in Miami when the battery mates couldnt get their signals straight. Backup catcher Jordan Pacheco has been behind the plate for De La Rosas last three starts. But Weiss didnt want to create a situation where De La Rosa had a personal catcher, so he went with Rosario, who actually had a calming influence on the sometimes excitable De La Rosa. In the third inning, Rosario sauntered out to the mound to briefly chat with De La Rosa after he loaded the bases with no outs. Rosario basically told him to relax and it worked as Buster Posey hit into a 6-4-3 double play -- bringing in a run -- and Michael Morse flew out to left. "Mixed my pitches really good with Wilin," De La Rosa said. "That was the key." Rosario also helped his pitcher out at the plate, too, lining a three-run homer.. Chris Webber Jersey. Its his third homer of the season. De La Rosa walked off the mound in the fifth to applause after striking out Morse to escape a jam with runners on second and third. Tommy Kahnle took over and struck out five in two innings. Its just the sixth time a reliever has done that in Rockies history. Ryan Vogelsong (0-1) never got on track and was pulled after 1 1-3 innings, his shortest start with the Giants. He surrendered five runs and six hits, including three homers. "Im definitely not happy about it," Vogelsong said. "Its embarrassing really." Colorado pounced on the Giants in the first, with Arenado and Rosario hitting homers off Vogelsong, who threw 44 pitches in the inning. It didnt get any better in the second when Blackmon hit a solo homer off Vogelsong. The Giants pulled him four batters later. His replacement, reliever David Huff, bailed the Giants out of more trouble by getting an inning ending double play. Huff strained his left quadriceps muscle running out his first big league hit the next inning and was taken out of the game. Huff will get an MRI on Tuesday. "It doesnt look good," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "More than likely hes heading to the DL." The Rockies placed right fielder Michael Cuddyer on the disabled list Monday with a strained left hamstring. Blackmon slid over to right and Dickerson played centre. They were a combined 5 of 8 with three homers. "Its nice when the rest of the lineup is doing some damage," Weiss said. NOTES: OF Angel Pagan was ejected in the seventh for arguing a called third strike. ... Vogelsongs shortest start of his career was Sept. 24, 2004, when he was with Pittsburgh. That led me to ask a different question. Tomas Rincon Jersey . I wondered how NHL coaches would feel about a playoff schedule that allowed them to open a best-of-seven series on the road, which many claim to favour, yet still gave them the precious home-ice edge for a seventh game. How would that work, you ask, as they did?Pretty simple, really - the higher-placed team would play the first two games on the road, and then get its home-ice advantage in four of the remaining five contests, excepting game six and including game seven.Overwhelmingly, the NHL coaches who were presented with this idea said they would opt for it if given the choice. That led me to wonder how the NHL would feel about a playoff system that gave the higher-placed team the option of playing at home for games 1,2,5,7, or for games 3,4,5, 7.The leagues schedule-maker wondered why he should make changes based on the apparent whims of coaches. It was pointed out to him that the alternative plan might be even more attractive to NHL owners and NHL players than to NHL coaches.Thats because it requires less travel over the course of a seven-game series. Traditionally, there is travel following games 2, 4, 5, and 6. In the new model, teams would switch sites only three times, after games 2, 5 and 6.Teams would save money, players would be fresher, and coaches would get what many say they prefer. At the very least, there would be an actual reward for a good regular-season record—the advantage of deciding what the real advantage is over a seven-game series, never mind the supposed and dictated advantage of opening at home. The next time you hear the coach of a team favoured to win lament the pressure that comes with game one at home, think of this way to end that complaint forever, and PASS IT ON. Miralem Pjanic Jersey .Fiji striker Roy Krishna scored in the 14th minute to give Wellington its fourth win, along with a draw, from its past five matches, putting the Phoenix fourth but only a point behind third-placed Adelaide. Douglas Costa Jersey . In the Brewers six games this season, no starter has allowed more than three runs. Finlands Kari Lehtonen made 26 saves to lead Dallas over the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1 Saturday night. The Knights had five weeks to kill between their second-round elimination in the Ontario Hockey League playoffs and Fridays Cup opener against the Val-dOr Foreurs. It was over seven weeks for Stolarz because of an eight-game suspension for slashing a Windsor Spitfire in a first-round game March 25. Jake Patterson finished out Londons playoff run, which lasted six more games. The OHL waived the final two games of Stolarzs suspension so he could play in the Memorial Cup. "To be honest, I just want to go out there and compete," said the 20-year-old from Jackson, N.J. "Obviously not playing, I think it was 56 days, was a little bit of a challenge, but I think over the last three and a half weeks of practice weve competed and battled and we couldnt be any more ready for this tournament." Stolarz backstopped the Knights to an OHL title in 2013 with a 13-4-1 post-season record. The Philadelphia Flyers prospect posted a goals-against average of 2.53 and a save percentage was .923. But the 19-year-old Patterson, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., played more games for the Knights this season. Stolarz represented the U.S. at the world junior hockey championship in January and was then sidelined for 17 games with a severe leg laceration. Patterson went 22-9-0-3 in the regular season and 2-4 in the playoffs. Pattersons experience combined with Stolarzss lack of recent games made Londons goaltending situation hazy for the Memorial Cup, until Knights coach Dale Hunter confirmed he would go with Stolarz as his No. Juventus Jerseys. 1 again. "It was a tough decision, but Stolz is the guy," Hunter said. "Both of them have been very good in practice. "Stolz has been solid for us before he got hurt, and in the playoffs. Suspension and injury put him back, but three or four weeks have honed his game up really good." Stolarz and Patterson both have previous Memorial Cup experience. Stolarz started last years tournament in Saskatoon, but the six-foot-six goalie appeared to tire after the long playoff run. Patterson finished the tournament giving up one goal in a tiebreaker win over the host Blades and stopping 32 of 34 shots in a 2-1 semifinal loss to Portland. So if Stolarz cant recover his game quickly, Patterson is waiting in the wings. "You have to prepare for anything," Patterson said. "If Stoles were to get sick during the season or if I were to get sick and he had to start last minute, Im sure both of us would be ready. Its kind of the same situation right now." Hunter recruited former NHL goaltender Jeff Hackett to work with both goaltenders in their Memorial Cup preparation. "We did a lot of game-oriented drills where wed focus on plays that happen so often, rebounds, tips from the point," Stolarz said. "Working on things like that got us really prepared for the tournament." He was in position to win last weeks All-Star race until a slow final pit stop caused him to finish second at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Now he goes into the Coca-Cola 600 looking for his third win in four years at NASCARs longest race of the season. Harvick won the 600-miler in 2011 and 2013, and feels hes got another shot with his new No. 4 Chevrolet. The first minute that I was in that car, I havent quit smiling, Harvick said. Its been so refreshing and so much fun to be part of that every day.Harvick, who won 23 races in 13 seasons driving for Richard Childress Racing, said theres something different and special about his new Rodney Childers-led crew. He praised Stewart-Haas, too.The bottom line is the organization from a whole has given us every resource that we have asked for, Harvick said. You never talk about money. Its just what do you need and how do we get it for you.Harvick broke through early to dominate at Phoenix for his first win with his new team, then went through some growing pains with four finishes of 36th or worse in his next five events. Things turned around at Darlington last month when Harvick outran Hendrick Motorsports stars Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson for the victory, and he hasnt slowed down since.Harvick credits much of the success to Childers, recruited by Stewart-Haas after two years as a crew chief at Michael Waltrip Racing. Childers and Harvick have connected over their desire to win, not just on race day, but during every practice session, tire test or pit stop. They all want to win and race for championships, Harvick said, and when you put (those) kind of people together with that determination, everybody pushes everybody else.Five things to watch during Sundays race:EYES ON KURT: Fans wont be the only ones watching Kurt Buschs try at the grueling, 1,100-mile double of the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600. But Johnson showed some signs hes ready to break back on top, collecting his first pole of the season for Sundays race. Johnson has had success at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a record-tying six previous wins including three in the Coca-Cola 600. If I win, then Im winning too much. If Im not winning, then its Why arent you winning? So I cant do it right either way. I learned a long time ago to not pay attention to the outside voices and influences and just worry about my race team, he said.SUPER DALE JR.: Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be running with Superman on his No. 88 machine as part of a multi-year sponsorship deal between Hendrick Motorsports and DC Comics. The Vancouver Canucks have placed goaltender Jacob Markstrom on waivers. Carl Jenkinson Jersey . The 24-year-old netminder was acquired from the Florida in March as part of the trade that sent Roberto Luongo back to the Panthers. Markstrom appeared in four games with the Canucks last season, posting a 1-2-0 record with a 3.00 goals-against average and a .868 save percentage. Originally selected in the second round (31st overall) by the Panthers, Markstrom has appeared in 47 career NHL games, posting a 12-27-0-5 record with an .896 save percentage and a 3.19 goals-against. The Swedish netminder has one year remaining on his current contract worth an average annual value of $1.2 million. he is slated to become a restricted free agent at seasons end. NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. Jon Gray Jersey . - After her 10th-place finish at the U.S. Womens open, Canadian teenager Brooke Henderson says shes keeping her options open when it comes to turning pro. But the 16-year-old from Smiths Falls, Ont., says right now she remains committed to a scholarship at the University of Florida once she finishes high school. "I am still committed to the University of Florida right now but well just see," she said Monday, as she prepared to compete in the second stop of the season for the Canadian Womens Tour in Niagara Falls, Ont. "LPGA is definitely my goal and I hope to have a successful career out there sometime soon. I dont know when that is right now, if its this year, next year or four years, after I finish university." The Open was won by another former teenage golf legend, Michelle Wie, 24, who turned pro just before her 16th birthday. The Open was her first major win. Henderson, who had the best score among amateurs at the challenging No. 2 Pinehurst course, admitted to some anxious moments at the start of her second Open. "The course was very difficult . . . and the beginning of the week I was a little bit intimidated because it was so hard and it was running so firm and fast," she said. But she got more comfortable as she worked her way to that final round 69. "I just knew that i had to hit certain spots on the fairways and certain spots on the greens and then it would be all right. I was able to hit the ball really well (last) week and hit those spots, which made it a little easier on me." Henderson, the No. 3-ranked amateur in the world, edged the top amateur, Australian Minjee Lee, by three strokes to take the low-amateur medal. She didnt get much of a break after the Open with a long drive to Niagara Falls but says shes always happy to be playing on the Canadian Tour. Chad Bettis Jersey . The ceremony will take place prior to the Kings January 17 game against Anaheim.CLEVELAND -- The Cavaliers coaching search is progressing -- and aging. For the second straight day, the team met with a Los Angeles Clippers assistant about its head coaching job. Alvin Gentry is the third known candidate to interview this week with the Cavs, who this month fired Mike Brown for the second time. Cleveland executives met Tuesday with Chicago assistant Adrian Griffin, and the Cavs interviewed Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue on Thursday. Both the 39-year-old Griffin and 37-year-old Lue represent the new breed of NBA coaches: young, former players who are highly regarded but lack head-coaching experience. On Saturday, the Cavs are to meet with former Memphis coach Lionel Hollins. Like Gentry, the 60-year-old Hollins has an extensive head coaching resume and now the Cavs must decide whether to go with an unproven candidate or one who has been through the grind. Gentry, 59, could be considered a favourite because of his background with new Cavs general manager David Griffin. They worked together in Phoenix and have remained close. Griffin has said he wants to find a coach who is more offensive-minded than Brown, who improved Cleveland substantially last season but failed to develop the teams offence. Gentry is also reportedly a candidate for the Lakers opening. Its unclear if David Griffin will expand his search to find Clevelands third coach in three years. The Cavs initially dipped into the college ranks to gauge interest in high-profile coaches like Kentuckys John Calipari and Floridas Billy Donovan, and they may circle back if theyre not sold on any of the four candidates brought in this week. Gerardo Parra Jersey. Gentry went 335-370 during stints with Miami, the Clippers, Detroit and Suns. He spent last season -- along with Lue -- on Doc Rivers staff. Hollins guided Memphis to a 56-26 record in 2012-13, but the club decided not to renew his contract despite him leading the Grizzlies to the Western Conference finals for the first time. He won an NBA title as a player with Portland in 1977 and had been with the Memphis franchise since 1999, when the team was in Vancouver and he became interim coach after Brian Hill was fired. Hollins is 214-201 overall and 18-17 in the playoffs. His departure in Memphis has been followed with upheaval in the front office. David Griffin understands the Cavs job could be a tough sell, given the team has changed coaches in each of the past two offseasons. However, Clevelands opening recently became more appealing when the Cavs won the draft lottery for the second consecutive year and will have the No. 1 overall pick for the third time in four years. The Cavs have a young, talented roster and salary-cap space. And owner Dan Gilbert is determined to move his club back among the leagues elite. He just needs someone to lead it -- young or old. WASHINGTON -- The Nationals began Sunday with a ceremony honouring manager Davey Johnson. Clayton Keller Jersey . By the end of the night, their playoff hopes were just about dashed. Giancarlo Stanton and Christian Yelich homered to lift the Miami Marlins to a 4-2 win in the opener of Sundays day-night doubleheader, a result that clinched playoff berths for the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals. Washington gained a split by winning the nightcap 5-4 when Wilson Ramos ninth-inning grounder bounced off the leg of third baseman Chris Coghlan for a game-ending error that allowed pinch-runner Eury Perez to score. The Nationals trail NL wild-card co-leaders Cincinnati and Pittsburgh by five games with six to play. "We arent finished. I take nothing for granted," Johnson said. "I still think we got a good shot. We need to win them all. We do. Hey, Ive been one strike, two runs down, one strike away, and weve come back. So dont lose the faith." Rafael Soriano (3-3) pitched a scoreless ninth inning to win Washingtons regular-season home finale, and Denard Span drove in three runs. Jayson Werth doubled off Sam Dyson (0-2) leading off the ninth, and Perez pinch ran and stole third with one out. Coming back from right forearm tightness that had kept him off the mound since Sept. 8, Stephen Strasburg allowed three runs and six hits in six innings and left with a 4-3 lead. "He was actually awful," Johnson said. "He was. Every pitch he threw was up. Hes got such great stuff, but everything was belt high." Strasburg said: "I went out there and competed and thats all I can do." Stanton hit a tying double off Tyler Clippard in the eighth. With Washington trailing 3-2 in the sixth and runners on second and third, Span hit a smash past a diving Ed Lucas at first to make it 4-3. Miami had been 0-8 at Nationals Park this season coming in and starter Tom Koehler (4-10) had been 0-4 in eight starts since Aug. 1. Koehler allowed two runs and three hits in six innings of the opener, and Steve Cishek pitched a perfect ninth for his 32nd save in 34 chances, completing a four-hitter and a scoreless afternoon for the Marlins bullpen. "You cant score six, seven runs every game," Washingtons Ryan Zimmerman said. "(Koehler) pitched well and theyve got some good arms in the back of their bullpen." Cishek has converted 27 consecutive save chances, tying Todd Jones 2005 mark for the longest streak in club history. "You know its crazy. Out there I had a little more adrenaline pumping. It felt like a playoff atmosphere," Cishek said. "The fans are really into it and those guys are digging in there and every at-bat was huge for them. It felt good to come out and win a game like that." Dan Haren (9-14) lost to Miami for the third time this year, giving up three runs and eight hits in six innings. Stantons 24th homer, a two-run drive after Yelich doubled, put the Marlins ahead in the first. Yelich added a solo shot in the third. Koehler, who shut out the Mets for eight innings while earning a no-decision in his last start, limited Washington to two singles over the first five innings. Zimmerman homered in the sixth, his 26th of the season and 11th of September. "Like I said before, Im not very good at math, but Im good enough to figure out that losing makes it tougher," Zimmerman said between games. "But weve just got to keep playing and see what happens." Washington grounded into three double plays. Donovan Solano drove in Miamis final run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. SAO PAOLO, Brazil -- Fabio Maldonado valiantly accepted a heavyweight fight with Stipe Miocic to help save the main event at "The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3," but he wasnt able to last longer than 35 seconds with his larger opponent. Ramon Humber Jersey . A big right hand for Miocic led to the quick finish in the headlining bout of Saturdays event, which took place at Sao Paulos Ibirapuera Gymnasium. Miocic (12-1) had been expected to face former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos, but injury scrapped that matchup and Maldonado stepped in as a replacement opponent. Maldonado (21-7) was a heavy underdog in the contest, but his penchant for putting on legendary battles led some to believe he had a chance of least making the bout entertaining. Instead, Miocic avoided some early offence and countered with a right to the temple that sent Maldonado to the floor. He followed with a series of hammerfists, and the fight was waved off in just 35 seconds. "I was real nervous," Miocic said. "That guys a tank. He keeps coming forward and doesnt stop. Hes got the heart of a lion, and I just needed to get my shots in. I got an open break and I landed a good punch. I think it was my night. I didnt want him to play possum with me, and I just waited for an opportunity, and I got it." In the heavyweight final, Antonio Carlos Jr. (4-0) used a dominant grappling game to outpoint fellow finalist Vitor Miranda (9-4). Miranda tried to use his kickboxing skills to punish his opponent on the feet, and he chopped at Carloss legs throughout the 15-minute affair. But it was Carlos who simply overwhelmed his opponent by repeatedly bringing him to the floor over and over and preventing him from moving back to his feet. Mirandas submission defence was impressive, but he was never able to mount any real counter attack and Carlos was awarded the victory with scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28. Perhaps most impressive in the result is that Carlos has been competing in professional MMA for less than one full year and his natural weight class is actually at 185 pounds, where hell likely move for his next outing. "I am the TUF champion, and I couldnt be happier," said Carlos. "I had never fought three rounds, but I think I needed this to grow as a fighter." Meanwhile in the middleweight final, Warlley Alves (7-0) looked absolutely dominant in a third-round submission win over fellow finalist Marcio Alexandre Jr. (12-1). Alves was the aggressor from the start, flooring Alexandre with a big right hand in the opening seconds of the fight. To his credit, the resilient Alexandre climbed back to his feet and looked to return fire, but Alves sheer aggression kept him in control of the fight the entire time. Big shots on the feet and big takedowns to the floor left Alves clearly ahead after two rounds, but he didnt settle for cruising to a decision win. Instead Alves blasted Alexandre with a big shot on the feet and then pounced with a guillotine choke, putting his opponent to sleep 25 seconds into the third and final round. "It was an honor to fight with a full, packed Ibirapuera screaming my name," said Alves. "I am sure I will get where I want and hope to put on a show in my upcoming fights." In a welterweight matchup, Sao Paulo native Demian Maia (19-6) picked up a dominating decision win over promotional newcomer Alexander Yakovlev (21-5-1). Submission ace Maia actually struck first with his boxing skills, flooring Yakovlev in the opening round with a left hand. But it was his grappling that earned Maia the win after a gutsy Yakovlev scrambled back to his feet. In all three rounds, Maia was able to take the action to the floor and advance to mount, pinning Yakovlev to the mat and forcing him to fight from his back. To his credit, Yakovlev always tried to buck and roll and escape to his feet, but Maia kept himself in a dominant position for much of the fight and was awarded an easy-to-score decision win, 30-27 on all three judges cards. "I really needed this win because in the UFC, every win is important," Maia said. "He defended really well, but I was able impose my game both standing and on the ground. " In the nights first main-card matchup, featherweight Robbie Peralta (18-4) earned a hard-fought and oddly-scored split-decision win over Rony Jason (14-5). Jason dominated the early action, landing a massive spinning elbow in the first round that could easily have ended the fight. But Peralta fought through it and seemed to gain confidence as the bout wore on. As Jasons offence slowed, Peralta came alive, but he was never able to completely dominate the action. With every flurry fired, Jason would find at least a single answer. In the end, Peraltas volume was rewarded with a split-decision win, but Jasons gutsy effort earned him points with the judges, resulting in a bizarre array of scores with 29-28, 27-30 and 30-27. "He is a tough guy, and I knew it was going to be a battle, going back and forth," Peralta said after the win. "I am just glad I came out on top." Jordan Poyer Jersey . Giroud headed home at the near post in the 14th minute, getting in front of Craig Dawson and shrugging off the defenders attempts to hold him back as Santi Cazorla delivered a corner. It was the strikers 22nd goal in all competitions this season. Arsenal controlled the game from there, getting into a quick passing rhythm and dominating possession, although it struggled to create serious scoring chances. West Brom resorted to long-range efforts, with midfielder James Morrison launching a 40-yard shot after spotting Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny off his line in the first half, but the ball went well wide. Graham Dorrans shot from about 20 yards came closer, forcing a reaction save from Szczesny in the 32nd. For Arsenal, the match held little significance because the club had already secured at least a fourth-place finish and a 17th consecutive season of Champions League football after Evertons loss to Manchester City on Saturday. In the last home game of the season, it felt like the home crowd was already looking forward to the summer, batting around a beach ball in the first half. "We played well," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "They had a few chances as well. We wanted to finish with a win and we did it. Maybe it was a bit subdued because we knew beforehand we would remain in the top four." Mathematically, West Brom still faces the threat of going down, sitting four points above the bottom three. But the Baggies will be out of danger if Norwich loses too Chelsea at Stamford Bridge later Sunday. Patrick DiMarco Jersey. Cardiff and Fulham have already been relegated to the League Championship for next season. West Brom manager Pepe Mel said he was uncertain of his own future after signing an 18-month contract with the club in January. He said 13 players are out of contract this summer, and he needs to hold talks with club officials to see if they share a similar vision for the club going forward. The fans have taken a liking to him, waving Spanish flags in the away end with messages urging him to stay. "I have a meeting with the chairman," he said. "I will express what I want." Arsenal still has one more match to play in north London — the FA Cup final against Hull at Wembley Stadium on May 17. A win for Arsenal would mean a first trophy in nine years after failing to win silverware since lifting the 2005 FA Cup. After the final whistle Sunday, the Arsenal players — many of them carrying their children — walked around the pitch in a lap of appreciation. The overwhelming chant from fans was "Bacary Sagna, we want you to stay," after recent reports linked the right back with a move to Manchester City. Wenger said he wants Sagna and backup goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski to stay, with both players out of contract after the season. Abou Diaby returned to the squad for the first time in more than a year after recovering from a serious knee injury but was an unused substitute. Midfielder Aaron Ramsey missed out with a minor thigh problem. Arsenals last league match is away to Norwich on May 11, while West Brom has two fixtures left: away to Sunderland on May 7 and home to Stoke on May 11. TORONTO – The Blue Jays put an end to an ugly four-game losing skid and afterward the manager was happy to state the obvious. Cheap Germany Soccer Jerseys . “It was a much needed win, I will definitely say,” said John Gibbons after his club beat Boston 7-1. Baseballs a strange game. It was an ugly homestand, the Blue Jays lost four of six to divisional rivals the Orioles and Red Sox, yet are sandwiched in-between the two teams with Baltimore a half-game ahead and Boston a half-game behind. In five of the six games, Toronto at some point held a lead of three runs or more. The Jays won only two of those five games, Sunday afternoon being one of them. Yet a crisp, efficient win which combined strong starting pitching, clutch relief work, good defence and potent offence buoyed the mood of the club as it heads out on an eight-game road trip through Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. “It was a complete joint effort,” said R.A. Dickey, who tossed 6 1/3 innings of one run ball. “I felt like we all had a hand in todays game. It was a game that I felt really good.” Dickey, who didnt walk a hitter for the first time in his Toronto tenure, left with one out in the seventh. The Red Sox had runners at second and third following a hit batsman and a double. Steve Delabar came in and got Jackie Bradley Jr. to pop up to third baseman Brett Lawrie and David Ross to fly out to centerfielder Jose Bautista. Inning over, the 2-1 lead preserved and the Jays would tack on two in the seventh and three more in the eighth to issue a final score that doesnt reflect how close the game was played for most of the afternoon. Edwin Encarnacion had two hits and two RBI, hitting four line drives in his four at-bats. Combined with the final out he made in Saturdays loss, a line drive to centerfield, Gibbons is seeing signs his slugging first baseman is beginning to emerge from a near-dormant first month of the season. “Today I thought he was really using his hands well,” said Gibbons. “Hes like anybody else. Confidence can waver a little bit. I dont care how good you are, how long youve been around or how productive youve been the last couple of seasons. This games all confidence.” Brett Lawrie hit his sixth home run of the season, a solo shot off Jon Lester in the second inning. The timing was important; the Red Sox had taken a 1-0 lead in the top half of the inning. “Definitely,” said Lawrie of the quick response. “This is one of those games you want to win, especially with an off day (Monday) and us going on the road and leaving a sour taste in 40-thousand peoples mouths when we go on the road (with a loss.) We want positivity going on the road.” The Blue Jays open a three-game set in Kansas City on Tuesday night. Right-hander Dustin McGowan will get the start against Royals left-hander Jason Vargas. MORROW UNFAMILIAR WITH McGOWANS DIABETES-RELATED FATIGUE As Dustin McGowan considers a change to his in-game regimen in an attempt to combat fatigue, fellow type 1 diabetic Brandon Morrow is in a comfortable routine and hasnt experienced anything similar to what McGowans going through. “Ive never felt physically fatigued during a game,” said Morrow. “I have nothing to compare it to. What would somebody without diabetes be feeling at the same point? I feel like I recover, physically, as well as anybody else with regulated blood sugar. I think its almost, not an advantage but you really learn your body well.” McGowan deals with wild swings to his blood sugar levels during games in which hes pitching. In Wednesdays outing against Baltimore, he took a reading of more than 300 milligrams per deciliter. To put that in perspective, the average blood sugar level for a resting, non-diabetic is between 100 and 120 milligrams per deciliter. He will wear his insulin pump in Tuesday nights game at Kansas City in the hopes of regulating his blood sugar level. Morrow, on the other hand, has a strict program he follows that begins about four hours before each start. There are six to eight checkpoints, as he calls them, during that time span. Morrows food and drink schedule is meticulous; his exercise and warm up routine equally so; he checks his blood sugar level about an hour and a half before first pitch. Shortly before game time, hes paying close attention. “If I ever go low its in the bullpen,” said Morrow. “Thats a two, three minute adjustment. During the anthem, the anthems always a time I check my blood sugar and if I need a juice or whatever we have something ready to go.” When the Blue Jays are on offence, Morrow will check his blood sugar level two or three times in the early innings of his starts. “My blood sugars crept up a little bit during games sometimes but Ive never felt like Ive just lost energy, like saying getting into the sixth inning and my body just shuts down,” he said. “Ive never felt that way.” High blood sugar levels can sap a diabetic of energy and can cause vision problems, particularly blurriness. Morrow says its never gotten to the point where he blames the condition for an inability to command his pitches. Low blood sugar levels can have an effect similar to drunkenness. There have been times when Morrows been awakened in the middle of the night. Hes in a cold sweat and his hands are shaking. He quickly drinks a glass of juice or eats a small portion and then waits the 15 minutes or so it takes for his body to regulate. WALKER DISCUSSES EJECTION Pitching coach Pete Walker wasnt pleased with home plate umpire Jeff Kelloggs strike zone in Saturdays 7-6 loss to the Red Sox. He was ejected in the third inning. Walker and Kellogg exchanged words following a mound visit. Perhaps the fact his pitching staff has walked 99 hitters so far this season is grating on Walkers nerves?“Maybe its been building, I dont know,” said Walker. “Its frustrating to watch the staff that we have walk guys because they are guys that know how to throw strikes, know how to attack the strike zone. Their philosophy and our philosophy is to attack early and expand late. It seems like were getting behind and making poor pitches behind in the count.” Heres another frustrating fact: entering Sundays play, the Blue Jays have had leads of at least three runs in four of the first five games of this home stand. The record in those four games: 1-3. The pitching isnt holding up. One day its the starter and the next its the bullpen. “Its really slight, slight mechanical adjustments for a couple of guys but for the most part its their mentality of attacking the zone and trusting their stuff and not buying into the fact that something like this can become contagious,” said Walker. “You walk a few guys, you start thinking about it. The sooner they can get out of their own heads and just get back to pitching and making pitches and trusting their stuff, the sooner we get over this hump.” Jonas Hector Jersey . -- Brad Gushue of St. Ilkay Gundogan Jersey . Nik Vucevic had 21 points and 16 rebounds as the Orlando Magic beat the Philadelphia 76ers 105-94 to post back-to-back wins for the first time since early this month. "We needed it," Vaughn said. "We were all over the place...Just a lot of guys who were getting into the game who were ready to play and were playing unselfishly on both ends. "We need guys and were gonna continue to need guys throughout the course of the year," he said. Glen Davis added 19 points, and Arron Afflalo and Victor Oladipo each finished with 18. The Magic led by 15 points before fighting off several second-half surges by the Sixers, which they beat for 17th time in 20 meetings. The game was the first meeting between rookies Michael Carter-Williams and Oladipo, and both played big roles. Oladipo registered a season-high 42 minutes. Though both had their highlights, it was how Orlando played together down the stretch that stuck out more. The Magic saw their double-digit, first-half lead dwindled down to a point early in the third quarter. It was 85-83 when Afflalos three-point play gave Orlando a little breathing room with 6:49 to play in the game. The 76ers kept coming before Afflalo struck again and turned a Philadelphia turnover into a layup that made it 93-87. That was followed a few possessions later by a 3-pointer by Oladipo that put the Magic up 98-89 with three minutes remaining and ended the threat. "We had a pretty impressive win (Tuesday) night (at Atlanta)," Afflalo said. "We hadnt had the best track record of backing up good victories with solid, back-to-back victories on back-to-back nights. It got a little ugly there in the second and third quarters, but we showed a little mental toughness and got us a good victory." Thaddeus Young led Philadelphia with 26 points and Carter-Williams added 23. It was Youngs first game in a week after missing three games while dealing with a death in his family. "They did a good job tonight of keeping the lead," Young said. "Once they got it, wed make a run to take the lead and they would (answer with) five or six points. They just kept their foot on the gas annd kept moving. Joshua Kimmich Jersey. " 76ers coach Brett Brown said the plan going forward was to ease him back into things slowly following his absence. Young didnt start, but entered the game for the first time at the 7:42 mark of the first quarter and immediately started to make an impact. "I didnt want to start him; I didnt know how long I was going to play him," Brown said. "You just go by gut feeling and judgment, and it was clear right from the get-go that he had bounce, he had energy, he wanted to play. He was good. So he ended up with (29) minutes, which I would not have guessed at the start of the game." The 76ers have now lost two straight and six of seven. Despite the victory, the Magic continued to deal with the injuries on Wednesday. Point guard Jameer Nelson left the game in the second quarter and did not return after limping off with a sprained left foot. Also, after making his season debut Sunday against Phoenix, Magic forward Tobias Harris sat out his second straight game with soreness in his left ankle. Harris was supposed to make his first start of the season against Atlanta Tuesday night, but was scratched just before tip-off. The ankle has now kept him out of 14 of the Magics 15 games this season. It was 55-50 at halftime as the Magic -- riding Vucevics 17 points and 10 rebounds -- dominated the first 21 minutes of the first half and built a 15-point lead. He went right at Philadelphias Daniel Orton, and hit his first eight shots of the night. It nearly evaporated in the final three minutes of the half, though, as the Sixers closed with a 10-0 run that included eight points by Young. Vucevic said he hopes the win will help the Magic to begin to play with a lot more consistency. "We made improvements, but weve still got a ways to go," he said. "We cant have streaks when we lose four or five games in a row. Its hard to make up for those. So we gotta try to be more consistent. We cant win every game ... but we gotta try to play the way we played the last two games." NOTES: Referee Tre Maddox left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury. ... Davis made his second start of the season and appeared in his fourth game of the year since missing the first 11 games of the season with a broken bone in his left foot. ... Sixers F Spencer Hawes missed his second straight game with soreness in his left knee. Bronx, NY (SportsNetwork. Greg Monroe Jersey .com) - New York Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli is headed to the disabled list with Grade 2 right hamstring strain, the team announced on Monday. The team will officially make the move prior to Tuesdays game against the Chicago Cubs and it will be retroactive to Monday. Over five games this season, Cervelli is batting just .188 with one RBI. Additionally, New York optioned right-handed pitcher Shane Greene to Triple-A Scranton. Matthew Dellavedova Jersey . Crawford hit his slam off Pirates starter Edinson Volquez to give San Francisco a four run lead in the fourth and they never looked back. Brandon Belt had three runs batted in as well. Bumgarner pitched all nine innings and allowed just four hits.AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- With interim coach John Loyer hoarsely shouting instructions, Brandon Jennings and the Detroit Pistons ran away from the San Antonio Spurs in the third quarter. Jennings finished with 21 points, and the Pistons beat San Antonio 109-100 on Monday night in Loyers first game at the helm. Detroit abruptly fired Maurice Cheeks on Sunday after only 50 games as coach, but although theyve been unimpressive for the most part this season, the Pistons have played better lately. The comfortable win over the Spurs was Detroits fifth in seven games. "I told them it was going to be an emotional day," Loyer said. "I told them I thought we can play, collectively, for longer periods of time better than we have." Rodney Stuckey scored 20 points for the Pistons, and Greg Monroe added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Marco Belinelli led the Spurs with 20 points. Detroit pulled even with Charlotte for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and the Pistons have shown flashes recently of the potential they thought theyd have this season. After signing Josh Smith and trading for Jennings in the off-season, Detroit is barely ahead of last seasons pace in terms of wins and losses. Jennings has been terrific lately, though. After scoring 35 points with 12 assists Saturday against Denver, he orchestrated another strong offensive effort Monday. San Antonio, meanwhile, turned the ball over eight times in the third quarter, when Detroit pushed its lead from 11 to 20. The Spurs finished with 19 turnovers, giving the Pistons all the help they would need. "We lost the game because we probably played the worst defence weve played all season, especially in the first half," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. "We didnt bring it mentally or physically, and the Pistons did." Loyers sideline demeanour was quite a change from Cheeks more calm approach. At one point, Loyer came all the way across midcourt to give instructions as the PPistons were trying to hold on. Rashad Vaughn Jersey. "Theyre both two different coaches," Jennings said. "One is loud, the other one is kind of laid back. Theyre both great guys -- especially Cheeks. Hes like a father figure to me, so hes definitely going to be missed. But this is the NBA, so I know how that goes." The Pistons went on a 12-2 run in the third to take a 73-52 lead, then added a few more highlights later in that quarter. Smith threw down a one-handed dunk after a turnover by San Antonio, and Jennings made a layup after Detroits Andre Drummond blocked Aron Baynes shot emphatically off the glass. Jennings missed from the perimeter, then stole the ball near midcourt and went in for a three-point play to make it 84-62. "I told the guys today, just when we were in the locker room, Im so proud of them," Loyer said. "I only thought there was about a three-minute period where they showed more energy, more determination than us. You show determination, hustle for 45 of the 48 minutes, youre going to be pretty successful most nights." San Antonio is in the midst of a nine-game road swing. Belinelli was back after dealing with back spasms, but the Spurs were without Manu Ginobili (left hamstring) and Kawhi Leonard (right hand). The Pistons went on a 15-4 run in the second quarter, capped by a 3-pointer by Jennings that put them ahead 57-45. "They played hard," San Antonios Danny Green said. "They wanted to play with some passion and they got loose balls." NOTES: The Pistons have won five straight at home after starting 7-15 at The Palace. ... After Cheeks firing, Popovich was asked about the key to his longevity with the Spurs. "I have information on everybody," he joked. "And Ive threatened everybody Ill let it out unless they keep me as long as I want to stay." ... Ginobili has joined the Spurs on this road trip, but hes not expected to play until after the All-Star break. WINNIPEG - Its one thing when your teammates think youre the glue that binds Canadas womens soccer team, but its something else entirely when one of your rivals thinks youre literally the best in the world. Javier Hernandez Jersey .Ive said for a long time that I believe, in my humble opinion, that Christine Sinclair is the best player in the world, said Hope Solo, the goalkeeper for the U.S. team Canada will play Thursday in a friendly. You dont always get to see how brilliant she is because she doesnt always have the support players but I think now shes starting to get the support players she needs to really highlight her own play. That means Solo ranks Sinclair above Brazils Marta — a five-time FIFA World Player of the Year — and even her own teammate Abby Wambach, who has scored more goals than Sinclair or anyone else in womens soccer. She plays both sides of the ball, Solo said. Marta, she gets the ball with her feet, she can score goals. But Christine Sinclair, she reads the game, she passes, she gets assists and shes dangerous every time she gets the ball. . . Ive looked up to her and Ive admired her as a player for a really long time.Sinclairs teammates are still in awe of her talent.Shes sort of that pivotal girl for us, said midfielder Desiree Scott, the Winnipeg native playing for the first time live in front of her parents this week. She makes everything tick and shes the one we rely on.Sinclair and Canada will need every bit of talent and skill they can muster to beat the No. 1-ranked Americans. Theyve already lost their first meeting this year and Canada, ranked seventh in the world, hasnt beat the U.S. since 2001.The rivalry between the teams has taken on more of an edge since the U.S. beat Canada in the semifinals at the 2012 Olympics, but Sinclair says the real goal remains peaking when the World Cup is held here in 2015.As for stepping to the spotlight Solo and others would like to shine on her, Sinclair remains reticent as ever. Its not always something Ive embraced because its a team sport and Ive always said that, you know, you cant be the best if you havent won anything, she said after practice Tuesday.I think finally at the Olympics, as a team we were able to show and as a team I think weve started to get the respect we deserve around the world. She is an 11-time winner of the Canada Soccer Player of the Year Award and has been on the national team for 14 years. Despite all that experience, at 30, Sinclair also says her game has improved, and like her team she feels that peak is coming at just the right time for a World Cup in Canada. But defeating the Americans, who have perfected so many aspects of their game, means finding new ways to break free from a defence that did a good job of shutting her down the last time they met.It seemed that every time I got the ball I had two people on me. It was a little frustrating. As a player, in terms of developing . . . I need to learn how to cope with that, she said.Meanwhile, U.S. forward Wambach wasnt too thrilled at the idea of playing on artificial turf like the surface in Winnipeg come 2015, when Canada hosts the World Cup.It will run from June 6 to July 5 and games will be played in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton. Of those, only Monctons tiny 10,000-seat stadium has real grass. The reality is the World Cup would never be played on turf if it were the men, Wambach said after practising on Investors Group Field Tuesday and noting that there were pebbles and even nails as workers renovate parts of the press box and other areas in the stadium that only opened last year. She said she assumes that will be cleaned up, but it isnt her point.Im going to stand by what Ive been saying. We deserve to be treated just like the men do. Nestor Araujo Mexico Jersey . (SportsNetwork. D.J. Humphries Jersey .com) - The Anaheim Ducks havent faced much adversity this season, but the Pacific Division leaders will try to avoid losing four straight games for only the second time this season when they visit the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. It wasnt that long ago when the Ducks appeared poised to run away with the division title but the club has fallen on hard times of late. Anaheim has lost three straight and six of its last nine games and Bruce Boudreaus team is a pedestrian 7-7-2 over its last 16 games. The malaise has helped San Jose force its way into the Pacific title conversation. After winning for the eighth time in 11 games on Tuesday, the Sharks are just two points in back of Anaheim for first place. The Ducks are also two points behind St. Louis for the NHL lead. Anaheim has managed to gain two points during its current 0-1-2 slide, but the club came up empty in Mondays 3-1 home loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak each registered a goal and two assists to lead Toronto to the victory in Leafs head coach Randy Carlyles return to Anaheim. Carlyle, of course, led the Ducks to their only Stanley Cup title in 2007. He served as Anaheims head coach for six-plus seasons before getting fired on Nov. 31, 2011 and replaced by Boudreau. Corey Perry scored the lone Ducks goal, while Frederik Andersen stopped 20 shots in the loss. "We had our fair chances, but we just couldnt capitalize on them," said Anaheim defenseman Francois Beauchemin. "I thought we played a decent game. We didnt get the result we wanted, but we had lots of chances offensively." The Ducks hope they can get back on track during a road-heavy portion of their schedule over the next few weeks. Anaheim, which has won three straight on the road and is 19-9-3 as the guest this season, kicks off a three-game trip tonight and will play seven of their next nine away from Orange County. Anaheim has claimed the first two of four meetings against the Flames this season and has won four of five and 10 of the past 13 encounters in this series. Calgary, however, has beaten the Ducks in three of the last four meetings at the Saddledome. The Flames, who are 17 points out of a playoff spot in the West, have lost two in a row. Calgary was last in action on Monday when it dropped a 3-2 decision to the visiting Los Angeles Kings. Calgary was down 3-0 with just under 13 minutes left in regulation, but made a valiant comeback effort behind goals from Mike Cammalleri and Brian McGrattan. In the end, however, the Flames were unable to get the equalizer and lost for the third time in five games. "Its unfortunate because I felt that defensively we did lots of good things, but we gave two goals off of tips in front and that ends up being the difference," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley. "But once again we never quit. We pushed and we pushed and we made a decent come back." Joni Ortio made 20 saves in the loss and he could get another start in net tonight. The 22-year-old rookie has never faced the Ducks. Hiller expects to get the start for Anaheim. He is 5-4-1 with a 2.77 goals against average and .905 save percentage in 10 career games against the Flames. Calgary forward Markus Granlund is questionable for Wednesdays game with an upper-body injury suffered in the loss to the Kings. Defenseman Luca Sbisa is also questionable for Anaheim after sitting out Mondays game with a lower-body injury. Antoine Bethea Jersey . Gerald Green and Miles Plumlee? Green had bounced around the NBA when he wasnt playing overseas. The Pacers gave up on Plumlee after just one season. Now Green and Plumlee are key cogs in the Suns surprising breakout season. Dorian Johnson Jersey .The Williams siblings, with 25 Grand Slam titles between them, will have a couple of Madisons joining them, too.Madison Keys had a 6-4, 7-5 upset win over two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova on Saturday night, and Madison Brengle beat Coco Vandeweghe 6-3, 6-2 in an all-U. http://www.thecardinalsshoponline.com/Youth-David-Johnson-Cardinals-Jersey/ . The move - the latest twist in Greeces nearly three-year financial freefall -- is the first such action by any of the countrys major sports bodies. It immediately halts all domestic track and field competitions, including track meets May 12-13 in several Greek cities. SAN DIEGO -- There is something about the Padres and playing them in San Diego that agrees with Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ryu threw six strong innings and the Dodgers beat the Padres 2-1 Sunday soon after San Diegos general manager Josh Byrnes was fired. Ryu (9-3) had few problems against the light-hitting Padres, as he won for the sixth time in seven starts since missing more than three weeks with shoulder inflammation. "I try to be aggressive in every ballpark that I pitch in," Ryu said through a translator. "Today, I think the main thing was ball control. I was able to keep the ball down early and that was the story." The Dodgers, winners of 10 of 14, took two of three games in the series and have either won or split their last 11 series in San Diego. The last time they lost a series in San Diego was a three-game sweep in September 2010. "It felt good to get this series," Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly said. "We got a couple of runs early and youd like to keep tacking on. Hyun-Jin was throwing the ball good and our bullpen did a nice job to held on for the series." The left-handed Ryu gave up one runs and four hits, and he did not allow San Diego to get its first hit until the fourth inning. "He got off to a good start," said Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis. "He kept them off balance the first time through the lineup. They made some good adjustments, made him throw more in the middle innings." In three career starts against the Padres, Ryu has allowed only two earned runs in 19 1-3 innings. Byrnes had been San Diegos GM since October 2011. The Padres went 76-86 in his first two seasons and are 32-44 and 13 1/2 games back in the NL West this season. Adrian Gonzalez and Dee Gordon drove in runs against Eric Stults (2-10). J.P. Howell pitched 1 1-3 perfect innings and Brian Wilson got two outs before Kenley Jansen finished off the four-hitter by pitching the ninth for his 22nd save in 25 chances. Hanley Ramirez got thee Dodgers going in the first with a one-out single. Justin Bethel Jersey. He stole a base and took third on a wild pitch when Stults walked Yasiel Puig. Ramirez scored on Gonzalezs ground out. Ryu helped himself in the second when his sacrifice bunt advanced Scott Van Slyke and Ellis. Gordon drove in Van Slyke with an RBI single to right but Ellis was thrown out at home by right fielder Chris Denorfia. Denorfia had two hits off Ryu, including a leadoff double in the sixth. After a groundout advanced him to third, Denorfia scored on Carlos Quentins groundout. Mattingly decided to pull Ryu after the sixth because he sensed his starter was getting tired. "I would like to go deeper in the game but toward the end, I felt a little bit extra more fatigue," Ryu said. "After talking to Donnie about it, he made the call." Said Ellis: "It was typical Hyun-Jin. He gave us a chance to win the game. He makes big pitches when he has to. He comes to win." Stults rebounded from a string of six straight subpar starts as he allowed two runs on six hits in a season-high seven innings. He struck out five and walked three. It was just the second time in 24 starts that the lefty has walked more than two batters. "Location was better," Stults said. "I was able to limit the mistakes and was just able to kind of keep them off balance." Stults has lost seven consecutive decisions over eight starts. The last time he won was a 6-2 victory over Miami on May 10. NOTES: Dodgers LF Matt Kemp extended his hitting streak to 10 games, while Ramirez increased his to nine games. ... San Diego has scored 23 runs in Stults 16 starts. ... Padres 3B Chase Headley (back) missed his fourth straight game. ... Dodgers RHP Zack Greinke (9-3, 2.57 ERA) faces Royals RP Jeremy Guthrie (4-6, 3.86) Monday in the opener of a three-game series at Kansas City. PRETORIA, South Africa - Oscar Pistorius was taken away in a police van with barred windows Tuesday to start serving a five-year prison sentence for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Danny Williams Jersey .Delivering her sentence, Judge Thokozile Masipa cited the gross negligence the double-amputee Olympic runner showed when he shot Steenkamp multiple times through a toilet cubicle door in his home.Pistorius, who cried and retched during his murder trial, was unemotional as he stood to hear his sentence. His prison term begins immediately and he was led by police down a flight of stairs to holding cells before leaving the courthouse in the armoured vehicle. The world-famous runner later arrived at the nearby Kgosi Mampuru II prison in the South African capital, a facility that has had problems with violence and overcrowding and where during the years of apartheid death row inmates were executed before capital punishment was outlawed with the advent of democracy. Despite the prisons reported problems, authorities have said Pistorius would be held away from the general prison population because of his disability and high profile — possibly in a hospital wing or a high-security section.Pistorius could be released after 10 months to serve the remainder under house arrest, according to legal experts. Masipa last month convicted Pistorius of culpable homicide, or negligent killing, but acquitted him of murder after he testified he mistook Steenkamp for a nighttime intruder.Steenkamps parents were in court to hear the sentence and the dead models mother, June, said justice had been done. A close friend of Steenkamp, Gina Myers, said: I really dont think any of us will heal anytime soon ... there will always be questions.Pistorius uncle, Arnold Pistorius, appealed to reporters to give the family privacy after what he called 20 months of relentless public trial. He criticized prosecutors for pursuing a premeditated murder charge against Pistorius, and said they decided to inflict as much collateral damage as they could. He said Pistorius family accepted the sentence.Oscar will embrace this opportunity to pay back to society, Arnold Pistorius said.Judge Masipa earlier described the sentencing as a balancing act between retribution and clemency.I am of the view that a non-custodial sentence would send a wrong message to the community, Masipa said, taking just over an hour to summarize parts of the case and explain why she reached her decision. On the other hand, a long sentence would not be appropriate either as it would lack the element of mercy.Masipa asked Pistorius to stand as she delivered the sentence, and he faced her with his hands clasped in front of him. Pistorius was then led away, stopping briefly to grip the hands of his uncle and other family members as he headed to prison.Prosecutors said they are considering whether to appeal the sentence, where Pistorius, 27, could serve less than a year in jail for killing his 29-year-old girlfriend. They have 14 days to apply for permission to appeal.Nathi Mncube, the prosecution spokesman, said his office was disappointed in the culpable homicide conviction and had not yet decided whether to appeal. He said that there was an appetite to appeal but prosecutors would review their options. We are satisfied with the fact that he will be serving some time in prison, Mncube said.Masipa had a wide range of options available to her because South Africa does not have a minimum sentence for culpable homicide, which is comparable to manslaughter. Pistorius, a once-inspiring athlete, known as the Blade Runner because he competed on carbon-fiber blades, was the first amputee to run at the Olympics in 2012. He had faced up to 15 years in jail. He also could have received a completely suspended sentence or house arrest. The sentence raised questions over if Pistorius, a multiple Paralympic champion, would ever return to the career that made him famous. The International Paralympic Committee said he would not be eligible to run during his five-year sentence, ruling him out of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics.Pistorius must serve one-sixth of his sentence in prison — 10 months — before he is eligible to be moved to house arrest, said Marius du Toit, a legal analyst and criminal defence lawyer. Its an appropriate sentence, du Toit said.As Pistorius left in the police van, a crowd gathered around the vehicle, with some whistling, shouting and banging on the caged windows.___Imray reported from Stellenbosch, South Africa. AP writer Lynsey Chutel contributed to this report from Johannesburg. Gyasi Zardes Jersey . The question all fans want to know heading into this light heavyweight affair is will Rua display his true potential. Working with UFC welterweight fighter Demian Maias team in Sao Paulo Brazil and having training partners such as fellow UFC stand outs Fabio Maldonado and Daniel Sarafian, the 32-year old feels very well prepared for Friday nights encounter. Eric Lichaj Jersey .In the Football Money League compiled by accountancy firm Deloitte, German champion Bayern Munich remained third but Barcelona dropped from second to fourth during its trophyless 2014.In the 2013-2014 financial year, Real generated 549. http://www.usasoccerauthority.com/clint-dempsey-usa-jersey/ .C. - Alberta prop Andrew Tiedemann will captain Canada against Uruguay on Friday, the opening day of competition at the IRB Americas Rugby Championship.PHILADELPHIA -- Its far from a coincidence that the Edmonton Oilers went big with the third pick in the NHL draft. In taking German centre Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers added some much-needed size and depth at a position of great importance. "Its not a stretch to say were really happy and think that we filled a tremendous need for our hockey club and I think is going to have a real significant impact over time with our team," general manager Craig MacTavish said Friday night. "You combine him with our No. 1 pick last year (Darnell Nurse), and we start to see some size and quite a bit of character continue to come into our dressing room." Beyond 2011 No. 1 pick Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the Oilers are thin at centre. And in Draisaitl, the highest-drafted German in NHL history, they get a six-foot-one, 208-pound player who has drawn comparisons to Anze Kopitar and Jaromir Jagr. Playing for the WHLs Prince Albert Raiders, Draisaitl had 38 goals and 67 assists in 64 games this past season as he developed his defensive game and faceoff prowess. Hes from Cologne but came to develop in the Canadian junior system and will remain in North America this summer to train. There are still things Draisaitl believes he needs to improve this off-season but the physically mature 18-year-old also thinks hell be ready to play in the NHL in 2014-15. MacTavish cant make such a guarantee. "Obviously we project the team to be much more productive and much deeper than we were this year, and thatll be a significant factor," he said. "We want to make sure that if we do put young kids into our lineup that they have a chance to have success, and thatll be a big factor along with how well he adapts to the NHL game at training camp." Just having a chance to earn a spot at training camp is a nice opportunity for Draisaitl, who understands he wont just be handed a job playing alongside Nugent-Hopkins, Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle. "Im going to have to do my job and earrn my spot if I want to play in that league and on that team," Draisaitl said. Matt Hedges Jersey. "I think theyre moving forward for sure and they made some good trades, (David) Perron, and the guys are getting older and more mature. This is just awesome right now." Draisaitl was thrilled to put on the same orange and blue of Edmonton stars of the past, most of whom had their primes before he was born. "Theyve had so many great players on their team: Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, MacTavish -- all those guys are stars in the league, and wearing the same jersey as they do is unbelievable," he said. MacTavish joked that he owed Draisaitl $100 for dropping his name in that group. More importantly for the GMs current job, he hopes Draisaitl can develop into an important piece of this already young core. Draisaitl fills a specific role, too, as the Oilers seek a variety of talent at forward. "(He) protects the puck and is a real offensive-zone player," MacTavish said. "Weve got a lot of skill, but were in need of somebody down low thats capable of sustaining the play. We have David Perron that fits that bill and now Leon will be a guy that can really protect the puck." If Draisaitl develops as scouts expect, he would slot in as the Oilers No. 2 centre of the future. His size mixed with Halls speed could be a tantalizing combination. "Hes probably the fastest skater in the league and hes an exciting player to watch," Draisaitl said. "It might be a good fit, but you never know." MacTavish would love to spend Saturday adding more depth to the organization, but the Oilers dont have a second- or a third-round pick after trades for Perron and goaltender Ben Scrivens. And he doesnt expect to be able to get into the second. "Well be sitting on our hands, it looks like, through the second or third round," MacTavish said. "Hopefully the scouts can pull a few of those impact players out of the later picks." DENVER - The Denver Nuggets were struggling and scuffling when they left for the road a week ago. Isaiah Thomas Jersey . Five games later they look like the team coach Brian Shaw envisioned.Kenneth Faried and Arron Afflalo scored 19 points each, Wilson Chandler had 18 and Denver beat the New Orleans Pelicans 117-97 on Friday night.Danilo Gallinari had 17 points and JaVale McGee 14 for the Nuggets, who have won four of their last five after starting the season 1-6. They took two of three on the road last weekend and have won two straight at Pepsi Center to even their home record at 3-3.We still have a long way to go, Shaw said. It took longer than we would have liked but its nice to see it coming together.Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with 18 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time in eight games Davis has failed to eclipse 20 points. We just have to move on, Davis said. Youre going to have games like this.Davis looked like he was going to have a big night when he scored 10 points in the first quarter. The Pelicans led by 14-2 in the first four minutes, but a timeout by Shaw and a threat to bring in the bench got the starters motivated. We started playing a little defence, got the lead back and control of the game, guard Ty Lawson said. We all knew it was being lazy. Just gave the extra effort and it got better.Denver rallied to tie it at 18-all midway through the first. The Nuggets used an 11-0 run that spanned the first and second quarters to take a 37-26 lead. They never trailed again. The advantage grew to 50-34 on two free throws by Gallinari. Jrue Holidays 3-pointer got New Orleans within nine late in the second but the Nuggets led 59-49 at halftime.Gallinaris 17 points were a season high for the forward, who is coming off two ACL surgeries on his left knee.If you dont play basketball for 19 months, trust me, its not easy to come back, he said. You think it is but it is not.The Pelicans got within eight in the third quarter but Denver began to pull away behind Chandler. He scored six straight points, including a 3-pointer with 8:46 left, to put the Nuggets ahead 98-77.We have an identity, New Orleans coach Monty Williams said. When we stray away from that, we get this result.McGee had three dunks and Nate Robinson hit another 3-pointer to put Denver up 107-83 midway through the fourth.___GOOD LUCK SMOOCHMcGee gave the crowd a laugh when he fell into the courtside seats trying to save a ball in the second quarter. Before he got up he planted a kiss on a female fan.Thats my Buddha, McGee said. I dont know her name but thats my Buddha.SCUFFED PAINTNew Orleans came into Fridays game leading the NBA in points in the paint but was outscored 52-32 in the lane. They got all the 50-50 balls, Davis said. They turned them into a layup or a dunk or a three. Something good for them.TIP INSPelicans: Center Omer Asik re-aggravated his back during warm-ups and was a late scratch from the lineup. He has now missed three straight games with the injury. ... New Orleans is averaging an NBA-low 10.9 turnovers a game. In Tuesdays win over Sacramento, the Pelicans had a season-low six turnovers. They had eight in the first 15 minutes against Denver and didnt have another for 12 minutes. They finished with 13, one off their season high.Nuggets: The Nuggets entered Friday averaging just 13.8 turnovers a game. That would stand as the best in franchise history for a full season. They had 10 against New Orleans. ... In Denvers four wins before Friday, Chandler was averaging 13.3 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. ... Lawson is fifth on the franchise list in assists. He trails Michael Adams by 57 for fourth. ... Eight players played 20 or more minutes for Denver.UP NEXTBulls: At Utah on Saturday night.Nuggets: At L.A. Lakers on Sunday night. LeBron James Jersey . The biggest collapse in franchise history was a long time ago, and he was too busy trying to make sure it didnt happen again. Channing Frye Jersey . -- Falcons running back Steven Jackson, who has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury, is expected to practice on Wednesday. http://www.authenticcavaliersauthority.com/kyle-korver-cavaliers-jersey-c-21/ .J. -- Travis Zajac of the New Jersey Devils took a lot of grief considering his scored the first of his career-best three goals just 12 seconds into a crucial game against the Florida Panthers.NEW YORK, N.Y. - The New York Islanders are perfect in the young season. Back to back wins over the Carolina Hurricanes were nice, but a blowout victory over the rival Rangers in Madison Square Garden is something to savour.Kyle Okposo scored his 100th NHL goal to snap a tie 48 seconds into the third period, and the undefeated Islanders netted four goals on seven shots in the final frame to beat the sliding New York Rangers 6-3 on Tuesday night. The Islanders, who opened with a home-and-home sweep of Carolina, improved to 3-0 when they broke loose for four goals in the first 10:59 of the third to send the Rangers (1-3) to their third straight loss.Okposo made the most of the second costly turnover by defenceman Michael Kostka to score his first of the season. We knew coming into the third we were fortunate to be tied, and we took advantage, said Islanders captain John Tavares, who had a goal in the second and added an assist in the third.Brock Nelson made it 4-2 at 4:50 with his fourth goal, and Mikhail Grabovski connected 30 seconds later. Ryan Strome assisted on the two goals that left goalie Henrik Lundqvist on his knees and shaking his head.Lundqvist was bombarded for the second straight game. He allowed five goals in the second period and six overall Sunday to Toronto in the home opener before being pulled. It is the first time he has allowed at least five goals in consecutive starts. Its really tough mentally when we play the way we are playing, Lundqvist said. Its extremely important that we play with smartness all over the ice. Im playing with good structure, but then I lose my structure a little bit when we as a group lose our structure.Together we need to regroup and be better.Nick Leddy finished the barrage with 9:01 left to make it 6-2. Johnny Boychuk scored in the first period, and Tavares tied it in the second for the Islanders. Jaroslav Halak was sharp in making 40 saves.Rick Nash scored for the fourth straight game for the Rangers, and Derick Brassard gave them their second lead of the night in the second period. Nash netted his second of the game and sixth of the season to make it 6-3 with 2:10 left. The Rangers held a 43-27 shots edge but have been outscored 17-8 during their skid. They started last year 1-4 during a season-opening, nine-game road trip, and finished October 5-7 before reaching the Stanley Cup finals.Certainly there is more than enough time for a turrnaround. Jae Crowder Jersey. . The Rangers host the Hurricanes (0-2-1) on Thursday. This is a totally new year, Nash said. We are aware of how serious it is. We have to correct our game and get a win.The Rangers pressured Halak throughout the second period, yet managed only one goal despite holding a 21-8 shots advantage.I really liked our first 40 minutes of 5 on 5, Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. The difference in the game was probably the second period. We had numerous Grade-A chances, but couldnt score. Then we made a few mistakes, and they made us pay for it.The Rangers even needed the help of a non-call to grab their second lead. Halak let a puck slide past him near the right post, anticipating that the Rangers would be called for icing, but it was waved off.The Islanders then were called for icing, and the Rangers turned that offensive zone faceoff into Brassards second of the season at 3:50.Islanders coach Jack Capuano was noticeably angry after the goal but softened his stance after the win.It is what it is, he said. They deserved to be up a goal. (The official) said he made a mistake. I do believe at the end of the year the (calls) even themselves out.The Rangers failure to tack on cost them when Kostka — playing his first game of the season — made a critical turnover that set up Tavares goal. Kostka tried to feed a pass from behind the net, but it was intercepted by Nikolay Kulemin, who quickly moved it to Tavares for a hard drive that beat Lundqvist for his second goal.Mistakes are going to happen, Vigneault said. (You) cannot not play every player that makes a mistake. You have to give them an opportunity to play through them and contribute, find a way to bounce back.Nash made it 1-0 just 6:21 in, finishing a rush down the right side with a backhand flick from the goal line that eluded Halak. Nash, whose wife gave birth to a son on Sunday night, is the first Rangers player to score a goal in each of his first four games of the season.NOTES: The Islanders hadnt been 3-0 since a 4-0 start in 2001. ... Veteran LW Ryan Malone made his Rangers debut. He entered the lineup along with forward Mats Zuccarello, who sat out Sunday due to an injury. They replaced healthy scratches C J.T. Miller and RW Jesper Fast. D Matt Hunwick sat out in favour of Kostka. ... The Rangers were 0 for 3 on the power play and are 0 for 11 this season with one short-handed goal against. Jesse Barfield Jersey . With the final four being arguably the four best – and most complete – teams from the regular season, picking a winner is not as easy as it sounds. http://www.teambluejaysprostore.us/Michael-Saunders-blue-jays-jersey/ . Hes just beginning to get similar results. The right-hander struggled after winning the honour in 2008 and 2009, but a retooling of his game has begun to pay off and has the San Francisco Giants thinking about the Lincecum of old.JACKSON, Miss. - Canadian Nick Taylor was down on his game over the summer, struggling with his putter as he fought to earn a PGA Tour card.So even he was a little stunned Sunday when he was holding a big bronze rooster and celebrating a comeback victory in the Sanderson Farms Championship. The 26-year-old Taylor from Abbotsford, B.C., overcame a four-shot deficit at the Country Club of Jackson, shooting a 6-under 66 on Sunday for a two-stroke victory over Boo Weekley and Jason Bohn. Taylor is the first Canadian-born winner on the PGA Tour since Mike Weir in 2007.Its kind of hard to believe that Im in that category now, Taylor said.Taylor, who said he grew up admiring Weir, won the tournament with nearly flawless work on the greens. He played the front nine in 4 under to pull even with the leaders and took control with birdies on Nos. 13, 14 and 15. He made four birdies from 15 feet or more, charging up the leaderboard and then staying at the top.Even though it was just his 13th PGA Tour start — and seventh as a professional — he handled the final holes with little drama. He calmly made a 9-foot putt to save par on No. 16 and his tap-in for bogey on 18 was easily good enough for the win.Going into today, I was feeling good about my game, Taylor said. But until it really happens, you never really expect it. Its very surreal. I putted unbelievable today.A former University of Washington player, Taylor three-putted for bogey on No. 18 after taking a three-shot lead into the final hole. He finished at 16-under 272 and earned $720,000.Weekley had a bogey-free 66, and Bohn shot 69.I didnt drive the balll as well as I wanted the first three days and kind of worked on some things yesterday and it came together today, Weekley said. Russell Martin Jersey. But nobody was catching Taylor.John Rollins had a two-shot lead coming into Sunday, but faded with a 73 to tie for fourth at 13 under with Peter Uihlein (65) and Justin Thomas (67).Taylor started the day among a clump of contenders, but quickly moved to the forefront with three birdies on the first five holes. And it was his recently-found touch on the greens that helped him rally.I just wanted to hit as many greens as possible because I knew I was rolling it really well, Taylor said.Taylor earned his PGA Tour card in dramatic fashion less than two months ago by shooting a 63 in the final round of the Web.com Tour Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Now he has earned exempt status through the 2016-17 season. The course gave up some low scores on Sunday thanks to ideal cool and windless conditions. Taylor was among the lowest and by the end of the day, he was holding the Sanderson Farms trophy, which is a bronze rooster. Sanderson Farms, the tournament sponsor, produces chicken products.I like roosters now, Taylor said, grinning. Its my favourite animal.Stephen Ames, a naturalized Canadian citizen from Trinidad and Tobago, won a PGA Tour event in 2009.In other Canadian results Sunday, David hearn of Brantford, Ont., shot a final round of 67 to finish tied for 14th at 9 under.
